I got this track sometime last week, I seem to collect them now days. (i also got a book of mormon today!). Seriously, how can the good folks of the ‘Fellowship tract league’ expect people to accept religion after reading a few bible verses? And how can they dare to hint that if you are not accepting their faulty understanding of the world that you will burn in a lake of fire for eternity?
Seriously, I wonder how many people stay or become christian or any other religion due to fear of hellfire. It is this sort of scare tactics that created doubt in me. Where are the religions that really only teach of love and understanding without the concept of a hell for those that do not side with you.

My question is this:
Are you good only because you are afraid of going to hell? Are you only good because of the reward of heaven? (whatever your definition of heaven is).

isn’t it much better to be good knowing full well that you are doing it for the sake of morality and not because of a reward or punishment? I certainly think so.

So, how did Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed do this weekend? The box office tells that it didnt do too well when compared to other recent documentary films even if it opened in more movie theaters. Ben Steins ‘comeback masterpiece’ is currently playing in 1,052 theaters, making 1.2 Million Dollars on opening friday, and then 940K on saturday.

However the per screen average for friday was a low $1,145 and for saturday just $940 ($2830 for the whole weekend). There simply seems to be not much demand for creationist propaganda. For comparison, Michael Moore’s ‘Sicko’, made 4.4 M on its opening weekend in only 441 theaters and Fahrenheit 9/11 did 23.9M its opening weekend in just 868 theaters.

With a 3.5M budget, Nathan Frankowski (director) might be able to at least break even, but it is certainly not what he expected.

The natural selection of the market will lead to an early extinction of this film, and perhaps discourage more to come.

Viva La Evolution!
